Our mission is to help children achieve academic excellence

- or simply to perform better than they otherwise would -

by making it easier for them and their parents to find out - whenever needed - what homework has been assigned and exactly what is expected.

A presumption is that parents want their children to do their homework, and to do it properly, believing that this will help them do better in their schooling! Some children would like to do their homework properly, but can't always remember what was assigned. Other children will sometimes give in to the temptation to obscure that information or even lie about it. Parents would often help their children with their homework if they could only get the facts about it.

Our goals are therefore to make it easy for people to record, verify, edit or correct - and especially to access - homework assignment information.

TheHomeworkSpot is at least a partial solution - providing:

  • An easy and convenient way of storing and maintaining homework information in a secure computer database.
  • Means of ready access to this information by students, parents, teachers and other interested parties through the Internet by computer, or - in due course - by telephone, pager, or who knows what other channels that might yet become available!

For those who don't have the time, or simply want the best - we will shortly be providing a way for people to get homework information especially quickly and conveniently. This will be by means of a secure Log-In that gets the person directly to the homework he or she wants to see. For a parent, this would provide direct access to homework even for mutiple children in different classes and/or schools - all without having to hunt through menus and drop-down lists. For children, this would provide direct access to their homework for all their classes, again without having to hunt.

About us: We have three children of our own, all attending school in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, Southern California. We've built this site as our particular solution to the problems we've experienced with respect to our children and their homework. Several teachers, counselors and other staff have been very helpful and encouraging. We therefore hope to continue doing this and making it all available to others who could use it. The site is designed to be extensible to classses in schools everywhere; it's undergoing continuous development, of course.
