Demand in university educations set to rise

With the demand in universities rising, up to 200,000 prospective students are likely to miss out on a place this year. This equates to a third of all applicants. Recent statistics reveal record number of people taking up places at universities to further their education and qualifications as the competition in the job market toughens. There’s been a rise of 7% of people taking undergraduate or postgraduate courses in 2008/09 which equates to more than 1.14m students. As a result ministers and education authorities are starting to feel the pressure as demand on student loans and grants is likely to cripple the system leaving many who would have been eligible without financial help.
