For those people who wish to gain a first few days of experience into what a teaching role encompasses, there are taster courses available to anyone who has not yet applied for Initial Teacher Training (ITT).
The course is spread over three days, which includes a school placement for a day, are there to help clarify any questions you may have, and assist in the decision process before signing on the ITT course, and can prove invaluable to those in two minds about what teaching involves.

Taster courses are also lend themselves well to those applying from an under-represented sector in the teaching field, for example, male teachers within primary schools, people with disabilities and those from minority ethnic backgrounds.

The purpose of the taster courses is to give an insight into the teaching premise and do not count towards any of the ITT programme, but are considered useful experience.
